The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) has postponed its CARIFTA Games Trials that was expected to be held this weekend owed to the “inclement weather” that has inundated the Police Sports Club Ground, the venue that was expected to host the event.
A release from the AAG yesterday stated that it would not have been prudent to have the athletes aiming to represent the country compete on an unsuitable surface. It would not have been to their best advantage on a heavy surface given the existence of qualifying standards.
The Trials also had a Fund Raising Take Away Lunch component to it that was scheduled for the Sunday. The new date set for both the Trials, and Take Away Lunch, is March 8 that has been set aside as a Public Holiday. The event begins at 10am and tickets are still valid.
