The Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) has blamed the poor service provision in East Coast and East Bank areas on fluctuating power services provided by the Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL).
Operations Manager of GWI, Joseph Codette, says the water company is unable to provide normal services to affected areas due to irregular power provided by the power company to well stations and water treatment plants located on the East Bank and East Coast of Demerara.
Affected East Bank and East Coast areas, according to the man include Diamond Housing Scheme, Caledonia, Coverden to Craig, East Bank Demerara and customers of communities between Sparendaam and Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara
The Manager noted that the company has deployed mobile generators to provide temporary service to these affected areas until the voltage imbalance has been rectified.
He also said that GWI is working closely with the power company to swiftly restore normal water services to the affected areas.
