The GLTA Tennis Summer Camp, which is sponsored by the P&P Insurance Brokers, will be staged at the Pegasus Hotel Tennis Courts on weekdays for a period of two weeks beginning on Monday July 11 and running to Friday July 22.
The programme is scheduled to run from 9-11am for children within the ages of 6-11 years and from 12-2pm for children aged 12-18 years. The GLTA is encouraging children at all levels to participate and get an appreciation for the sport of tennis. These children will enjoy fun practice drills after which they will be placed to compete.
This camp was sponsored by Mr. Bish Panday since 2004 when GLTA was re-established. With his sponsorship he believes that it will aid in fostering discipline among the young within the sport.
The successful execution of this camp has brought greater participation and enthusiasm within the junior tennis arena whereas at least 60-80 children participated in the camp. Many of these children find themselves continuing the sport in the National Park Programme of which most of the Advanced Juniors are currently a part of.
The camp fee per child will be $3,000 for the week’s period. Registration will be done via the telephone numbers 592-642-5672 or 592-643-4423. All parents are asked to be present to complete the registration with the fees at 8:00am on Monday July 11 after which the Opening Ceremony will commence at 8:30am.
