A Reliance, East Canje man who beat his stepfather mercilessly after the man objected to him wearing his clothes has been jailed.
Adit Ramotar, 21, of Reliance, East Canje, is accused of unlawfully assaulting his stepfather, Kesawar Persaud, on April 18, at Reliance, East Canje.
The case for the prosecution presented by Corporal Orin Joseph was that on the day in question Persaud was at his Reliance home relaxing in his hammock when Ramotar visited wearing Persaud’s pants.
The elder man objected to Ramotar wearing his clothes and told him to desist. Ramotar became annoyed and proceeded to kick and cuff Persaud about his face and body.
The police subsequently arrested and charged Ramotar.
In court he pleaded guilty and was fined $20,000 with an alternative of three months in jail. Ramotar opted to go to jail because as he said, he doesn’t have money.
