Court regular Bhojnarine Ramkissoon called ‘Duck’ of East Canje, Berbice, will have to spend Christmas and New Year’s behind bars after he was remanded to prison, by Magistrate Omeyana Hamilton when he appeared before her yesterday at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court. Ramkissoon was remanded until January 12th, 2011, on a charge of possession of narcotics.
Prosecutor corporal Roberto Figueira told the court that on Wednesday December 8, at around 23:30 hrs, the police acting on information went to a house at Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice. The suspect was found at the premises where a search was carried out on him and in his right side front pocket a wrapped parcel containing seeds, leaves and stems, suspected to be marijuana, was found. He was arrested and the contents subsequently weighed and amounted to half-gram.
