– Sprinter Harris also performed creditably
Junior Carifta Games Gold medallist Jevina Straker, Alika Morgan and Alisha Fortune headlined a list of outstanding performances from Guyanese runners at the 36th Hampton Games which ended recently in Trinidad and Tobago.
Straker, who is a two-time 1500 metres champion at the Junior Carifta Games, won the Under-17 800 and 1500 metres events, while Morgan and Fortune duplicated her performance by capturing the Open International 1500 and 3000 metres races and the Women’s 100 and 200 metres events respectively to cap a solid showing from Guyanese athletes.
Guyana’s representative at this year CAC Games sprinter Adam Harris was also present at the Meet, claiming second and third places in the 100 and 200 metres events respectively.
Another local athlete Neisha Allen captured two third places behind Fortune, while GDF’s Leclain Baird gained silver in the Men’s Javelin.
Many more Guyanese athletes participated in the Meet and recorded some encouraging results.
