In celebration of Nurse’s Week, which began yesterday, the Bartica Hospital hosted a simple church service at 9:00 hrs. The theme for this year’s activity is “Delivering Quality, Serving Communities, Nurses Leading Chronic Care.”
Chairperson, Nurse Angela Van Lange, encouraged that nurses should interact with patients more by sitting with and speaking to them because of the trauma of their condition on arrival at the hospital.
She urged nurses to avoid conflicts, stay calm and be more conscious of the fact that nurses are people of character, who are highly respected because of their dedication and commitment to their work.
Nurse Van Lange in her outline of the week’s programme for the Bartica Hospital said that today special care will be given to the hypertensive ( high-blood pressure) and diabetic patients at the Hospital’s Clinic.
Tomorrow there will be an environmental cleaning exercise and visits to two shut-ins in Bartica. On Thursday nurses will be at the front of the WK Shopping Mall, First Avenue, Bartica, to host an open hypertensive clinic to the community.
On Friday the nurses will donate two concrete benches to the community. Their activities conclude with a Nurses’ Social on Friday night.
