Kaieteur Sports – Over the weekend, the East Demerara Football Association’s ‘Flour Power’ under-17 football tournament continued with four matches taking place at the Buxton Community Center ground.
The matches were split between Saturday and Sunday, with Melanie and Dynamics FC both registering wins on Saturday, and Haslington and Beterverwagting/Triumph winning their respective matches on Sunday.
Dynamics FC put in a strong performance on Saturday, beating Mahaica 6-0. Bryan Wharton and Joshua Holder both scored braces, while Antwon Grant and Travis Williams also found the back of the net.
Melanie FC also secured a win on Saturday, narrowly beating Buxton Stars thanks to a 68th-minute strike from Kobe Benjamin.
On Sunday, Haslington handed Victoria Kings their fourth loss of the tournament with a crushing 7-1 result.
Akini Baynes was once again in fine form, scoring four goals, while Levon Burke, Aaron Thompson, and Isan Williamson also got on the scoresheet.
Kennard Halley scored a consolation goal for Victoria Kings in the 50th minute. In the other match of the day, Beterverwagting/Triumph eased past Ann’s Grove 2-0 thanks to goals from Xavier Ignatius and Trevon Drakes.
