The Civil Defence Commission (CDC), last week, visited the area of Papaya, Barima-Waini (Region One), to conduct a reconnaissance of the old National Service Centre with the aim of identifying specific needs to target development works to house migrants.
There are almost 6,000 Venezuela migrants in Guyana, with a significant number of them in Region One. They have fled food shortages and tough conditions in that neighbouring country.
