A fire, the third to occur this week in Linden, gutted a house in Dakama Circle last night and left a family of three homeless and with just the clothes on their backs.
The house belonged to Keshia Luke-Garraway, who was reportedly not at home when the fire started.
According to a close friend of Luke, the woman was on her way home, when she received the call that her house was on fire.
“It is very sad. It’s hard because that was a beautiful house with everything in it.”
And a One Mile Wismar resident is currently contemplating her next move after fire demolished her home earlier in the week.
The woman, Dorette Higgins, lived with her father and six children, at the house. She was also reportedly not at home when the fire started.
It is believed that the fire may have been of electrical origin.
Meanwhile another fire which started in an Amelia’a Ward home, also earlier in the week was reportedly extinguished by neighbours who helped to contain the flames that had erupted in the kitchen.
It was reported that the home, which is occupied by a mother and her two children was only slightly damaged, but the woman sustained burns about the body and had to seek medical attention.
Linden has seen some of the worst fires over the years with some leaving families with just the clothes on their backs.
A few were much more devastating and wiped out entire households. Several others occurred when parents were out.
