An unemployed teenager who allegedly used a knife to inflict several stabs wounds on a resident has been committed to stand trial at the next sitting of the Berbice High Assizes on a charge of attempt murder.
Stephan Fordyce, called” Blacka”, 18, of Marcy Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, is accused of attempting to kill Richard Edwards, 33, a fisherman of 101 Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
The incident occurred last April.
The man appeared before Magistrate Rondell Weaver at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court where a prima facie was made out.
Prosecutor Corporal Rochelle Mars told the court that during the day in question the two had a misunderstanding. Later the same day the men were in the vicinity of the Sweet Lips Disco when Fordyce walked up to Edwards and stabbed him with a knife.
Edwards collapsed, was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted.
A report was made and Fordyce was arrested the following day at home with the knife in his possession.
