Swift action by the police has resulted in the arrest of two men who robbed the Golden World Chinese Supermarket at Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) around 20:30 hrs on Wednesday.
The men who are between the ages of 27 and 17 who hail from Essequibo and the East Coast Demerara were held shortly after they escaped from the supermarket on foot.
They robbed the proprietor, 37-year-old Jin Li-Luo.
The suspects reportedly entered the supermarket, made a purchase after which one of the suspects whipped out a handgun and demanded cash.
A police patrol responded and confronted one of the suspects. He was shot in the right foot when he tried to escape. The other suspect was held late Wednesday night in Parika.
