Lindeners took to the streets yesterday in the wake of the announcement that the coalition A Partnership for National Unity plus Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) had won the May 11, 2015 General and Regional Elections.
The mining community came alive as the residents defied the showers to Bob Marley’s “No more fussing and fighting, top ranking” and “One Love”. They shouted “Victory and Freedom” as they celebrated the victory.
One jubilant Lindener said, ‘I satisfy, they cheat we de las time but we do we ground works and we been pon they tail since Monday. No skulduggery. Granger fuh President.” Another prayed and gave thanks and glory to God.
Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon on his way to his office was stopped and surrounded by the jubilant supporters. In the end he said “Change is finally here.”
Many described the event as Freedom Day.
