Vendors at the Stabroek Market pay a $3,000 monthly revenue fee for their stall at the market. This fee is said to include money for cleansing and for security provided by the City Constabulary.
However, vendors under the clock area are in great distress over the built up garbage and clogged drains over which some stalls stand.
According to reports the vendors are forced to pay vagrants to clean their individual spaces or clean it themselves. Failing this, they could face charges by the City Constabulary.
Cleaners employed by the City Constabulary would come once in a while to clean a particular area.
The vendors opined that it was unfair to have to pay the monthly $3,000 revenue and still have to pay to get the job done.
