Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) recorded victories when action in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Carib Beer first division T/20 tournament continued on Sunday.
GCC defeated Police by 8 wickets at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary. Police batted first and scored 116-4 after the game was reduced to 14 overs. Royan Federicks top scored with 41 (3×4,3×6) while Jason Heyliger supported with 33 (1×4,2×6). Jamal Anderson, Joshua Wade, Raj Nanan and Leon Johnson picked up one wicket each. GCC replied with 117-2 in 11 overs. Johnson stroked seven fours and four sixes in a top score of 61 not out and Ramnaresh Sarwan made 28 (1×4,1×6). Heyliger and Seon Daniels were the wicket takers.
At the said venue at 13:30 hrs, GYO overcame Transport Sports Club (TSC) by 5 wickets. TSC took first strike and posted 148-7 off their allotted 18 overs. Oslyn Batson was their leading batsman with 47, while Shaun Alves chipped in with 28. Leon Scott grabbed 3-20 and Abdool Rahim 2-18. GYO responded with 152-5 in 17.5 overs. Surendra Heeralall led with 43, Quame Crosse scored 34 and Rahim 32; Jonathan Alphonso took 2-32.
