After seeking assistance for rheumatoid arthritis, Nalini Amarnauth, 40, of Best Village, West Coast Demerara is yet to raise $2.8M for her surgery.
The woman has been suffering from secondary arthritis with deformities in both knees. The condition has made her stagnant. Further, there has been no assistance for several years.
According to Mohammad Ali, the woman’s husband, Balwant Singh Hospital diagnosed his wife with Rheumatoid Arthritis and has offered to perform the surgery at the cost of $2.8M. That, Ali said, they are still unable to access despite contributions from friends and family.
He noted that the Ministry of Health would also be assisting with half the fee and is asking that the public kindly assists his family in accumulating the funds.
Ms Amarnauth had explained that previously she was being treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital and that she was taking painkillers. However, lately she was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital and was told that the institution is incapable of doing the surgery. She received recommendations to visit Balwant Singh hospital where the surgery could be done.
Mr. Mohammad Ali says that his wife would be fully mobile if she is to receive the surgery and asks that good spirited contributors leave their contributions at bank account no # SIBG-444-918 GBTI Vreed-En-Hoop.
The family could be contacted on telephone numbers: 693-7944 and 254-0512.
