The recently resuscitated Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) began their 2011 season with a one-day open Competition at the GTM Hardcourt in New Amsterdam.
The entity in a release outlined their list of activities for the year and following Sunday’s event will be the hosting of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Quadrennial General Meeting which will be held at the Berbice High School (BHS) on January 23.
In the month of February, the BVA is expected to conduct a Workshop for teachers, referees and captains at BHS on February 5, while a one-day tournament for ‘B’ teams will be staged at the Eaglets Court, Reliance in East Canje on February 16.
On February 20, competition among the teams move to the #63 Beach for the Diamond Mineral Water Classic that will be followed by the National Sports Commission sponsored Schools Competition for both male and female on February 25 at Canje Secondary School. A one-day tournament for players over the age of 35 years is set for Reliance, Canje on March 13, while a fund raising competition which includes softball cricket will be done at Lochaber ground, West Canje on March 20.
On March 27, an Executive Outreach is planned at Black Bush Polder.
Kaieteur Sport will complete the itinerary in a subsequent issue.
