The Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) yesterday announced that four generators with a combined capacity of 20MW have experienced insulation failure on the alternator. Additionally, imports from the Skeldon Generation Station have been reduced by four MWs due to scheduled major overhaul of its 5MW generator. “The remaining generation capacity is inadequate to satisfy demand during peak hours, resulting in scheduled load shedding for the remainder of the week. Efforts are underway to return the units to service as soon as possible.”
