A 40-year-old porkknocker charged for hitting a woman with a piece of wood and breaking her leg on Wednesday was
granted $125,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Kevin Cross appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Friday to respond to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged that Cross, with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or cause actual bodily harm, struck Karen Hope at One Mile, Mahdia on Wednesday (September 17). He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Seon Blackman did not reveal the details of the incident but disclosed, that one of the victim’s legs is broken since Cross had beaten her with a piece of wood. He however did not object to bail.
Meanwhile, the accused told the court that he lives with his father in Kitty, Georgetown but works in Mahdia.
At the end of the short hearing, bail was granted and he is set to appear at the Mahdia Magistrates’ Court on October 20.
