Teachers and students of Winfer Gardens Primary School now have a comfortable outdoor benab in their compound where they can read and practice singing, play musical instruments and conduct drama.
According to the Headmistress, Jennifer Cumberbatch, the Ministry of Education Buildings Division constructed the benab to help the school achieve its Mission Statement of producing rounded individuals.
Cumberbatch emphasised that to create healthy minds teachers challenge students to engage in extra curricular activities. The benab will provide the requisite creative learning environment for the students.
She explained that the school’s choir, prior to the construction of the benab, used the library to practice singing and playing musical instruments. They found the library inconvenient, though.
Through the benab, the students will have adequate space for Physical Education.
To increase literacy, the teachers have reading periods but some students do not respond to the classroom, so the benab will be that outdoor reading haven.
Cumberbatch added that the benab will also be used for staff meetings and Parent Teacher Association meetings.
