A two-year-old boy became the country’s latest road fatality when he was struck down by a car at Long Creek, Soesdyke/Linden Highway early yesterday morning.
Fabian Gomes was pronounced dead at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre almost an hour after he was hit by the car, shortly before eight o’clock.
Police said that Gomes and some other children, including his seven-year-old brother, were standing on the roadway when it is alleged that he ran across the road and was struck down by the car.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with investigations.
