Kaieteur News – On Sunday, a Police Lance Corporal was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), after he was struck down by a silver grey 212 motorcar. At the time, the police rank was patrolling along the Agriculture Access Road, Triumph, East Coast Demerara.
The injured rank has been identified as 34-year-old Colwin Forrester, the officer in charge of the Anti-Crime Patrol of the Beterverwagting Police Station.
According to information received, the accident occurred at around 21:35 hrs. It was revealed that police ranks, including Forrester, had observed the motorcar parked on the western side of the road. Upon observation, the police ranks exited their vehicle and went over to the motor car. However, the car drove off from the side of the road and ended up colliding with Forrester. Kaieteur News understands that the driver did not stop to see what transpired and fled the scene.
The 34-year-old was picked up and taken to the hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor, who found that he had suffered broken pelvis bones and other injuries about his body.
The driver of the silver grey 212 motor car is yet to be apprehended.
