Police, Young Warriors, Betsy Ground and Young Warriors have booked their respective places in the semifinals of the Magic Moments T20 Cup which is organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) for teams in the New Amsterdam/Canje Zone.
Police, Young Warriors and Rose Hall Canje won their second round of matches while Betsy Ground drew the Bye to the final four. The matches featured outstanding performances from Philbert Wilburg and Clinton Lindie of Police, veteran Samaroo of Rose Hall Canje and Trevon Stanislaus of Young Warriors.
The Magic Moments T20 Cup is being played in four Zones across Berbice, West Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje, Lower Corentyne and Upper Corentyne. Each Zone champion would face each other in a playoff tournament to determine the Berbice overall champion.
Scores from the 2nd round of matches: Rose Hall Canje defeated Sisters at the Rose Hall Canje Ground by 3 wickets: Sisters scored 117 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs – Leon Andrews 37 and G. Barron 28 the principal scorers. Bowling for Rose Hall Canje. Sudesh Dhanai took 3 for 31 and Ameer Rahaman on 2 for 21. In response Rose Hall Canje reached 118 for 7 off the final ball of their innings. Balram Samaroo 46 and Rocky Beepat led the home team.
Young Warriors Cricket Club turned back the challenge of Edinburgh by three wickets: Young Warriors 149 for 7 – Trevon Stanislaus 42, Alex Algoo 40. Kevin Ramdeen 2 for 26.
Edinburgh Cricket Club 132 for 7. J. Henry 33, J. Andrews 37. Jermain Henry 2 for 17; Kassim Khan, Gevon Schultz and Trevon Stanislaus each claimed a wicket.
Police arrested Kendall’s Union Sports Club by 50 runs at the Kendall’s Union Ground. Police 203 for 6 off 20 overs – Philbert Wilburg 46, Brentnol Woolford and Clinton Lindie 43 apiece and Quacy Mickle 30. Amit Ramroop 2 for 36 and Samuel Barker 2 for 40.
Kendall’s Union 153 all out in 19.3 overs. Albert Budhoo 30, Navendra Mangra 29. Quacy Mickle 4 for 30.
The New Amsterdam/Canje leg of the tournament continues later this month with the semifinals at the Rose Hall Canje Ground. Rose Hall Canje would oppose Police while Young Warriors clash with Betsy Ground.
