Twenty-one-year-old Shemar Moore was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan,
accused of stealing a quantity of items from a woman at Agricola, East Bank Demerara.
Moore, who resides at Evans Phillips Park, Agricola, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on April 12, he stole from Lorna Archer, a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone valued $165,000, a BLU cell phone, a purse and a Republic of Guyana passport containing a United States of America visa.
He was granted $75,000 bail.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore told the court that none of the items were recovered. He opposed bail for the defendant, citing the fact that he is a flight risk and that none of the items were recovered.
The prosecutor indicated that the case file is complete and requested an early date for the commencement of trial.
The virtual complainant who was not present for the court hearing is expected to appear in court when the matter is called on May 3.
