– made to relive their golden days
Last evening, senior citizens, made good use of the opportunity to relive their youth, by
participating in singing, dancing, sharing stories and telling jokes. This was done in the auditorium of Marian Academy located on Carifesta Avenue.
Hosting the event were the D’Urban Park Lions.
Before melodiously expressing themselves in karaoke, the elders enjoyed a well prepared meal, inclusive of a snack and dessert.
They then told jokes and shared stories. The event brought smiles to the faces of about 100 senior citizens from various homes and churches across the country. It had them up and dancing to beat of songs which were the hits in their youthful days.
Coordinator of the club, Maxine Cummings, told Kaieteur News that the activity became an annual one after it was realized that seniors don’t really have much to call entertainment these days; most of them only go to church.
Cummings added that the event was not kept at the Botanical Gardens this year because of the unexpected changes in the weather.
The auditorium of the school, however, was much more comfortable, with all the necessary facilities that did not cause the elders to feel fatigued.
“We are very thankful to the Lions Club for taking us back to our party days, the golden days. May God bless them,” said Leon Green.
