CBR Mining Milerock is latest to benefit
For sports organizations let alone clubs to survive and really administer to the needs of their constituents and members, available finances help to shape that success in a major way. While this is so, just a few clubs have been able to attract full time sponsors including the likes of Bakewell Topp XX, Bakewell Buxton Stars and Sunburst Camptown to name a few.
That list has now increased with the announcement that CBR Mining is now the official sponsor of Linden based club Milerock, the second club in the Bauxite Mining Town being able to attract a full time sponsor in Mr. Chunilall Baboolall owner of CBR Mining.
Club President Bryan Joseph announced the partnership stating that the initial sponsorship will see the team uniforms being branded CBR Mining Milerock.
The Club which was formed in 1972 has over the past few years come of age and have been crowned National Champions twice, was also Kashif & Shanghai champs twice and have also been winners of the Upper Demerara Football Association division-one competition on numerous occasions.
They have also been runner-up club to National Champions Alpha United in the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF / Guyana Football Federation Super League and along with Alpha United represented Guyana in the second round of the Caribbean Union Club Champions Cup.
They lost heavily to Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force in their home and away encounters after advancing by virtue of defeating Suriname’s Intermoengotapoe in their home and away tie.
The sponsorship by CBR Mining is exactly what the doctor has ordered as the club tries to rebuild in order to be competitive on a consistent basis. Joseph commented: “The sponsorship package is expected to significantly boost Milerock’s overall standing as one of the country’s top club’s with performance incentives for the also included. Additional payments will be made on a periodic basis to assist with several club projects and general administrative matters.”
Joseph stated that Mr. Baboolall was initially approached by the Club’s Public Relations Officer with a proposal for which he had no hesitation in accepting.
Mr. Baboolall has expressed his delight at being able to give back to society and in this instance, Linden and the sport of football stating that he was a player in his younger days. Linden he said is an area where a significant number of his workers originate from.
Baboolall has also promised to visit the Club’s facilities at Linden with a view to assisting with further development.
CBR Mining has a proud record of supporting the development of sports and has been a big supporter of the annual Twenty20 cricket tournament that has been a resounding success in Bartica.
The CBR Mining Milerock FC is extending sincere congratulations to Mr. Baboolall on his achievement of being rewarded with the Golden Arrow of Achievement testimony to his unflinching contributions to the development of Guyana.
