The NAWIRA Women’s Sevens Championships will take place in Bahamas, on October 25 and 26, to coincide with the NAWIRA Rugby World Cup Sevens Qualifying Tournament.
The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) as a result, has called twenty players to join the National Squad in preparation for the championship tournament. Twelve players will be selected in October to represent Guyana at the regional event.
Those called to practice: Alicia Jalu, Andrea Lashley, Careem Skeete, Carrin Carter, Charmin Pearson, Collette Hope, Desaun Josiah, Grace Jarvis, Latoya Hamilton, Laurel Anderson, Lisa Mangroo, Maurees Skeete, Natolia Primo, Nicole Nero, Nikita Davis, Sabola Gray, Shennel Daniels, Theresa Torres, Tracey Greaves and Tricia Munroe. Practice days at the National Park are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a meeting of all players at the GNEC Sports Club on Sunday August 3 at 9:30 a.m. Head Coach for the Women’s Team is Alton Agard assisted by Cornel Millington.
