Kaieteur News – A total of 36 persons on Wednesday graduated as Community Healthcare Workers (CHW) in Region Ten.
Attending the ceremony at the Major’s Reception Hall, in Amelia’s Ward, Linden was Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony alongside the Regional Chairman, Deron Adams; Regional Health Officer (RHO), Dr. Gregory Harris and other officials.
Kaieteur News understands that the 36 persons are the region’s first batch of Community Health Workers and are expected to return to their respective communities and apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during the last six months of training.
Anthony told the audience that the ministry is committed to fulfilling its promise of hiring persons upon completion of training. With this, he mentioned that each graduate will be hired by the ministry within their respective area in the region.
He related that a few of the graduates were chosen from riverine areas so that they can render assistance to patients through Telemedicine Services. “In the selection of this batch of students, you would have seen that we chose people from the riverine areas and areas that are currently underserved…”
