Kaieteur Sports – The Guyanese women capped off a tremendous run this Regional season, as they clobbered Windwards by 69 runs during Monday’s final round of CWI Women’s T20 Blaze tournament.
Guyana women made 131-4 after 20 overs with Mandy Mangru continuing her form with 51 not out off 50 with five fours.
Captain Shemaine Campbell went on an assault as she too continued her batting form, smacking seven fours in her 47 off 43.
Guyanese spinner Plaffiana Millington ended as the leading wicket-taker for the Blaze T20 tournament.
Windwards bowling was led by Pearl Etienne who grabbed 2-18 with veteran spinner Afy Fletcher grabbing 1-24. Only Zaida James (21) managed to stand tall amidst the carnage, as Windwards were knocked over for 62 inside 16 overs.
Guyana completed another ruthless bowling outing, led by Kycia Schultz who claimed brilliant figures of 5-14.
Other contributors for Guyana were tournament leading wicket-taker Plaffiana Millington (2-7), Leg-spinner Niya Latchman (2-12) and Cherry-Ann Fraser (1-20)
Jamaica, who won the Super50 chip, also claimed the Blaze T20 title after an amazing run and one final win after beating Trinidad and Tobago.
Millington ended as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps while Jamaican Rashada Williams ended with the most runs (183), capping off the two standout players of the competition.
