Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) is saddened to report that four of our esteemed match officials were involved in a car accident on November 26, 2023. Match officials involved are: Referees Gladwin Johnson, Kleon Lindey, upcoming Referee Safyia Goulding and Referee Assessor Ingram Johnson. There is no report of life threatening injuries.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:00 am in the vicinity of Hopetown village Berbice. The team of officials was traveling home following a football match at the Eve Leary Ground. Everyone involved in the accident was transported to Fort Wellington Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The GFF is happy to disclose that Referees Gladwin Johnson, Kelon Lindey and Safyia Goulding have been discharged from the hospital. Referees Assessor Ingram is reported to be in stable condition and is being transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital for further evaluation.
The GFF Administration is in close contact with the officials and their immediate families. GFF President Wayne Forde was to visit the officials yesterday.

Our entire football family is sending thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to our match official, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the first responder and medical professionals who are providing care.
