West Side Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition…
-Showstoppers, Harmony Ballers and Brothers United into last four
Showstoppers, Shattaville Gunners, Brothers United and Harmony Ballers were the teams left standing following the completion of quarter finals action on Thursday night, at the Pouderoyen tarmac, West Demerara.
Playing in the West Side Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition before a large crowd, Showstoppers led by solitary strikes from Anthony Harding and Marvin Josiah had to withstand a spirited performance from Harmony Ballers ‘B’, before prevailing 2-1 in the opening encounter of the night.
Keifer Adams was the lone goalscorer for the losing team.
In the game that followed, Shattaville Gunners impressive 2-0 win against Bagotstown Warriors only served to confirm why they are regarded as one of the favourites to cart off the title.
Jeuel Stephens and Jalen Williams efforts proved enough to secure the semi-final spot for them.
Brothers United and West Side Ballers then battled to a goalless stalemate, before the latter won in a penalty shootout.
Harmony Ballers then ensured that both units did not fail to meet the last four when they sent Agricola Upsetters crashing out of the tournament after squeezing past them by a 1-0 margin thanks to Jermin Bynoe’s goal.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals will be played this evening at the same venue, while the final is set for Tuesday at the identical location.
Brothers United will engage Showstoppers and Shattaville Gunners lock horns with Harmony Ballers.
