Top team Smythfield Rockers of New Amsterdam continued their unbeaten run in the Banks DIH Classic Basketball tournament when they demolish a hapless Fyrish Black Sharks 45-26 when the first semifinal was played on Monday at the Vryman’s Erven basketball Court in New Amsterdam.
The Rockers were steady from the start as they swarmed and bound the Sharks early in the game for a runaway 23-8 lead by the half time mark.
The second half was much the same with the Rockers affirming themselves for the eventual blow out. Leading the way for the Rockers was Neil Wills with a game high 19 points.
The second semifinal was down for yesterday at the same venue involving East Canje Knights against the New Amsterdam Warriors.
The final will be played on Sunday at the same venue and at stake are cash incentives and trophies.
Smythfield Rockers came out as winners in group B with Black Sharks the runner up in group A, while the East Canje Knights was the winner of Group A and New Amsterdam Warriors the runner up in group B.
The top two teams will receive cash incentives and medals. The most valuable player will also be presented with a trophy. The organiser is Vibert Garrett.
