Sophia thumped St. Stanislaus by eight wickets when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/
New Building Society second division 40-over competition continued yesterday.
St. Stanislaus surprisingly opted to bat on a moist pitch after winning the toss and were shot out for a paltry 23 in 6.5 overs at Gandhi Youth Organisation ground. Pacers Khalil Ducan and Malcolm Morris rocked their top order reducing them to 10-4.
Aided by poor running between the wickets and shot selection thereafter, St. Stanislaus never recovered as no batsman managed double figures. Samuel King was the top scorer with five as Duncan finished with 3-7 and Morris 3-12 from three overs each. Despite losing two wickets in their chase, Sophia hit off the required total in four overs, ending on 26-2. Miguel Vaughn made 10 as Lindon Wilson took 2-9.
The other matches that were scheduled to be played between Third Class and Demerara Cricket Club at Bourda and host GNIC and Guyana Defense Force were washed out with out a ball being bowled.
The competition continues today.
