Dilchand Angad, 28, of Plantation Hope, West Coast Berbice, died following an accident on Sunday on the No.10
Public Road, West Coast Berbice. According to reports, about 17:40 hrs on Sunday, Angad, a contractor was riding an unregistered Blue CBR 500 motor cycle at a fast rate of speed along the roadway heading in the direction of Rosignol.
When he was in the vicinity of No.10 Village, he overtook a minibus, swerved to avoid collision with a motor lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction, lost control of the motor cycle, fell and struck his head on a big rock that was on the corner of the road.
It was not certain if he was wearing a helmet.
He sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to his wife, Linda Heerlall, she had spoken to her husband a few minutes before on the telephone and he promised to be home in a short while. The woman, who is the Overseer at the Bel Air/Woodlands Neighbourhood Democratic Council, stated that, they would usually leave home together, but did not on that day.
According to a police release Angad was riding a motor cycle along the public road when in the vicinity of No 10 Public Road, he overtook a minibus and collided with a motor lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction.
