Dear Editor,
For years now we as residents of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, are going through lots of problems with noise nuisance. The source is Black Stone music set. Almost every month there is some show or sport at the head of Old Road.
Just Easter Monday they had the set playing until about 3:00 hrs Tuesday. They had posters up early for 1st May, 2014 when they had another session.
When the music is playing your roof is vibrating. Those who have a vehicle their alarm is going off. You cannot sleep at night because of these people.
We are transported property owners. Why must one person disturb so many lives? When you call Timehri Police Station they keep telling you they will come. Sometimes the police patrol will pass and then you think you will get help but the police will stop and drink beers. So there is no help.
Sometimes when you call the station, the police will say you have to come in and make a report. How can one go at those hours in the morning to the station? Then you might be victimised.
I am calling on someone in authority to look into this matter with urgency. When someone is having a wedding you have to go through so much hassle to get a pass for music to play. How is Black Stone owner getting pass to play every month or twice a month? What is the connection with the police.
