Last Friday night at their Carifesta Avenue Sports Club Ground, the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sports male softball team defeated Floodlights in a thrilling encounter. Floodlights batted first and made 219 for 9 in 25 overs. Mark Harold 35, Ricky Deonarain 36, Dru Bahadur 27 and Surendra Nauth 23 were the main scorers. C. James took 3 wickets, while Permanent Secretary Alfred King, P. Stuart and Motilall took 2wickets each.
MCYS responded admirably with good partnerships making the winning 220 in 24 overs. Maryn Vyphuis made 37, Motilall 45 and Carl Brandon a useful 27 coming down to the wire.
However MCYS Females were not so lucky. They were defeated by 4R Lioness by 10 wickets. Batting first they made 72 all out in the 10th and final over. Chandini Mahadeo took 3 wickets, Shyan Goodluck took 2. 4R Lioness hit off the required runs in the 6th over without loss. Shanessa Williams was 45not out and Tracy Glasgow 25 not out at the end.
All trophies for the match were sponsored by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market/City Mall.
