The Buxton ‘Carl Hooper’ Cricket Club on the East Coast of Demerara will celebrate its 12th anniversary on March 26 with a Church Service and Annual ceremony.
President of the Club Esse Peters informed Kaieteur Sport that the two longest serving executive members of the Club will be honored for their outstanding contributions over the years.
Peters added that awards will be given to the best bowler, all-rounder and batsman for 2010 in addition to the year’s most improved and disciplined players.
The East Coast based club, named after former Guyana and West Indies Captain Carl Hooper who is an Honorary Member, also extended congratulations to former Test Off-spinner Roger Harper for being returned as the Georgetown Cricket Association President.
The club thanked Ms. Emily Dodson for her assistance in making its Academy a success and to East Coast Cricket Board Second Vice-President Jailall Samaroo for his sponsorship of the Academy.
Guyana Cricket Board Vice President and East Coast Cricket Board President Bisooon Singh will deliver the feature address while Harper, Samaroo and First Vice President of the Buxton ‘Carl Hooper’ Cricket Club Gavin Dick are also slated to speak at the presentation ceremony.
Peters thanked the executives of the East Coast Cricket Board for their support in 2010 and the members of his club for their hard work. He added that sponsorship is still being solicited for the 12th anniversary celebrations.
