Ituni Village Warriors wins Linden Zone; O-35 male T20 to continue this weekend
Ituni emerged champions of the Linden Zone of the Regal Stationery & Computer Centre Female T10 cricket competition after claiming victory over Lamp Stand by 17 runs.
Following are the results of the matches and the final.
Ituni Village Warriors won the toss and made a challenging 102-4 in their 10 overs. Samantha Benjamin slammed 33 (4×6; 1×4) off eight balls batting at number 4 with support from Felicia Frazer 30 ( 2×6; 2×4) in a partnership of 69 off 30 balls. Josephine Ashby was the best bowler with 2-15 from 2 overs.
In reply Malali Conquerors were skittled out for 45 of 9.2 overs with no batswoman getting into double figures. Samantha Benjamin returned with the ball to grab 3-2 in 2 overs to crown a fine all-round performance.
Lamp Island ensured Malali Conquerors (in their second match) went home without a win defeating them by 19 runs.
Lamp Island won the toss and batted scoring 91-2 in their 10 overs with the consistent Norleen Rogers 28 off 12 balls (3×6). Faye Barkoye supported with 21 off 18 balls (1×6; 1×4). Rochelle Daniels bowled with fire to capture 2-6 in her two overs for Malali Conquerors who in their turn at eh crease were cruising at 43-2.
But with the introduction of Faye Barkoye the entire game changed as Barkoye stifled the Malali batters picking up 3 quick wickets for only 7 runs off her 2 overs which helped to limit Malali to 72-7 in their 10 overs and earning the right to challenge Ituni in the final.
In the final Ituni Village Warriors defeated Lamp Island by 17 runs. Ituni Village Warriors won the toss and immediately chose to bat first, they eased their way to 87-2 off their allotted overs with Donnette Daniels – one of the most correct batswoman in the side – leading with 31 (5×4). She found able support from opener Kevon Liverpool with 27.
In their turn at the crease Lamp Island were coasting at 33-0 off 4 overs but with the introduction of Yani Shaw, the brakes was put on the scoring.
The light effectively went out for Lamp Stand as wickets fell and the flow of runs dried up. They eventually ended on 70-5 when the 10 overs ran out.
Yani Shaw bagged 3-11 off 2 overs for the winners of the Linden Zone Ituni Village Warriors who have earned the right to represent Linden in the upcoming countrywide quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the over -35 males and the remainder of the female open competition will continue this weekend.
BE THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL TO THE FOREIGN EXPLOITERS
