Digicel’s Business Development Manager Gavin Hope (left) hands over the winner’s trophy to Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Executive Cecil Kennard at the Company’s Head Office yesterday.
Digicel continued its consistent trend of support towards the horse racing fraternity with another expression of goodwill when Business Development Manager Gavin Hope presented Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Executive Cecil Kennard a trophy and $250,000 for this Sunday’s Post Arrival Meeting will be held, at the club’s facility, Bush Lot Farm, Berbice.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Company’s Head Office in Kingston and the sponsorship represents prize money for the ‘I’ Class & Lower event along with the trophy and will be run over 7 furlongs with the winner set to receive $140,000.
Among the horses entered so far are Stormy Water, Infinity, Lyana, Clear Victory, Fantastic Light, Bounty Flyer, De Gump and Miss Bounty.
According to Kennard seven events are carded for the day with the feature being the ‘C’ & Lower over 7 furlongs with a first prize of $380,000 and trophy.
He informed that Sunday’s Meet marks the third time that Digicel has teamed up with the club and they are extremely grateful for the support, adding that without such benevolence from the corporate community it is very difficult for the sport to develop.
“Since they’ve been involved in the sport, they haven’t missed a Meeting,” Kennard disclosed.
The total prize money according to Kennard is in the vicinity of $2.5 million.
The track is expected to be a good one despite the rains.
BE THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL TO THE FOREIGN EXPLOITERS
