Some one hundred and nine (109) students of Sophia Primary School yesterday received free uniforms, stationery, socks and footwear worth over half a million dollars from KEI-SHAR’S Gift Shoppe.
The annual donation, now in its fifth consecutive year, is usually done just before the new school term begins. Over a short time, KEI-SHAR’S has developed a close relationship with the students of the school who are mainly from the Sophia community.
The students, from Grades 2 to 6, also receive a free lunch each from KEI-SHAR’S daily during every school term.
During the simple ceremony, KEI-SHAR’S Manager Shiv Nandalall emphasized the store’s commitment to the students with the assistance given, which he noted also helps to ensure their attendance at school.
He reminded the gathering that the gesture is treated with great importance because as the saying goes “A mind is a terrible thing to waste” and children of the community must be supported to remain in the school system and be better prepared for their future.
