Registrar of the Supreme Court, Sita Ramlal, returned to work yesterday after a recent, prolonged illness. She was met with a warm welcome and loud applause.
Ramlal, who was hospitalised overseas, was expected to report for duty on May 21, but returned to Guyana on Tuesday, June 10.
Sources at the Registry told Kaieteur News that Ramlal has fully resumed her duties as Supreme Court Registrar.
Ramlal’s vehicle rolled into the compound at around 09:00hrs to a large bunch of cheering employees, who were delighted at her recovery. Among those who greeted the Registrar was Acting Chief Justice Ian Chang, who left his office to offer well wishes.
Justice Chang had said that Ramlal was expected to return to Guyana about three weeks ago.
Chang also dispelled fears that Ramlal’s absence would have affected the ongoing June criminal sessions.
Ramlal fell ill early in May, and was reportedly flown out of Guyana.
