The son of Regional Vice-Chairman of Region Six, 25-year-old Anup ‘Anesh’ Jhagroo, was up to press time last evening in a critical condition at a private hospital in Georgetown after being involved in a vehicular accident along the Bush Lot Public Road on the Corentyne.
Jhagroo, an employee of the Guyana Lottery Company (New Amsterdam Regional Office), was at the time heading to his Canefield Settlement, Canje home, after making a trip up the Corentyne around 19:00 hrs on Monday evening.
According to reports, the young man lost control of a grey Toyota Rav-4, and slammed into a utility pole after which the vehicle careened and crashed into a concrete bus-shed. The vehicle was badly damaged.
Jhagroo was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, after which he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the New Amsterdam Hospital. The man was said to have suffered a punctured lung and severe head injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in the city around midday yesterday.
Police are investigating.
