– Bandit escapes with “cheap phone”
A 25-year-old labourer is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to his left leg.
Eon Ambrose of 91 Sideline Dam, La Penitence, was shot around 00:45hrs on Monday.
According to the father of two, he had just left a football event and was on his way home when he confronted his assailant. He claimed that he was at Middle Road and Hunter Street, Albouystown, when a cyclist rode up behind him and demanded that he stop.
Ambrose said that he did not get a chance to see his attacker’s face because he was wearing a “flop hat” and had a handkerchief tied over his nose and mouth.
“He tell me don’t move and then he grabbed my cheap phone and ride away,” Ambrose recalled.
The victim probably thought that that was the end but little did he know, he would have ended up running into his attacker once again.
Ambrose ran in the opposite direction along Middle Road but somehow he and his attacker once again crossed paths. The thief then shot him in the leg and escaped.
Ambrose was subsequently taken to the hospital by persons who were in close proximity at the time. Police are investigating.
