Reigning Group 2A champion Chet Singh in an interview with Kaieteur Sport yesterday via telephone
said that he is relishing the new additions to the category and welcomed all competitors.
Singh, who has been a consistent performer over the past thee years updated this newspaper on the changes that the team has made for the upcoming Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) ‘Race of Champions’ Meet which is slated for April 1, at the South Dakota Circuit, informing that work is currently being done on the suspension and handling and come race day, fans and supporters will see a better car.
“We are currently working on some of the nagging problems that beset us in the previous race Meet and I’m confident that everything will be rectified in time for the upcoming event,” Singh stated.
A usually reserved competitor, Singh said the team is working steadily to correct the faults that plagued his Honda Civic car during the last Meet and was confident that the improvements will make the car faster and easier to handle.
Singh said he welcomed the competition, adding that it is good for the sport and a development that will certainly make all of them better drivers.
He noted the emergence of former Group 3 driver Kamal Seebarran in the Group, someone he referred to as a seasoned driver and one who could provide a lot of knowledge to the others in the category.
He mentioned drivers such as Shairaz Roshandin, his brother Raj, Seebarran,
the veteran Jad Rahaman, Syed Hassan and Aaron Bethune as those he would have to keep an eye on.
