Dear Editor,
On 20th January, 2009, the peoples of the world were blessed to have witnessed history in the making. There were many who dreamed of such a defining moment but did not live to be a part of it. Martin Luther King Jr. had the dream, and I am confident that there were many others.
That defining moment was the swearing-in of Barrack Hussein Obama as the first black President of the most powerful nation on earth.
On that eventful and memorable day, many things happened the world over. I dare say that there are many who would be quite happy if there can be the inauguration of a Barrack Obama every month. The day brought to the fore the innovation and talent of many.
I guess Kaieteur News would be happy to have another inauguration next week. They certainly did themselves proud. Their print came out a little late, but it was worth every minute of the time readers had to wait for it.
The event, though so many miles away, was covered in a masterful way. The publisher, Glen Lall; the editor, Adam Harris; the reporters, the photographers, the printing staff – everyone, no matter how small, including the vendors, should pat themselves on the back for a momentous achievement.
You have proved that indeed you are the #1 paper in Guyana, even thought I may not have the authority to say this. You made the other dailies look ordinary with your very special, special Wednesday edition.
Congratulations to the publisher, staff and vendors of Guyana’s #1 newspaper! Keep forging the way so that others can emulate.
