The police are investigating the murder of carpenter Edwin Motoweren of Owen Street, Kitty, Georgetown, who died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation yesterday, almost a week after he was stabbed with a putty knife.
Motoweren was stabbed in his chest by a fellow worker at a construction site on the West Coast of Demerara.
Investigations have so far revealed that Edwin Motoweren was involved in an altercation with another man at Stewartville on November 6, during which he was allegedly stabbed to his chest.
Motoweren had claimed while in hospital that as he lay bleeding on the ground, his assailant continued drinking and it was not until day clean when the employer arrived at the site that he was taken for medical attention.
The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
