Dear Editor,
This bunch of parliamentarians (government and opposition) and government officials are the worst ever to occupy the House and state apparatus. Given the COVID pandemic and escalating numbers, it would have been prudent to have budget questions submitted by the opposition in written form and a time for response by the government ministers in same format. Instead they chose to stand in the house and dishonor it. Is the succeeding government administrations racing to see which can furrow deeper into the mud hole?
Perhaps the COVID situation did help in that the parliamentarians did not behave dishonorably in the actual Parliament Building but in a location where weddings, fairs, circus and funerals are held.
The Speaker of the House adds to this undesirable travesty in our country. It is evident that he lacks the underlying depth of character for this position.
It is a sad and hopeless situation.
Are there no good men and women left in Guyana? Have they all migrated?
I encourage President Ali since he appears to have a progressive agenda: If you really want to succeed, you have to replace most of the appointments you made in the government and public service with persons who are capable of executing and delivering the many projects you identified.
Yours truly,
Harrish Singh
