DEAR EDITOR,
I wish to share a personal experience about that service of the Guyana Police Force. Over the years, I have read many articles about an outstanding cop, (name given). I was very impressed and I looked up to him.
On September 5, I was at the national stadium and attempted to cross the road with a group of persons. The cop in question (recognising him from media pictures) stood at the middle of the road.
He allowed about 15 persons to cross before telling me that I needed to walk 200 meters north to cross. I enquired why this was the case as he had just allowed a group to cross in front of me.
To my shocking belief, I was told “walk yuh (expletive) suh before I throw you in the (expletive) police car and lock up yuh (expletive)”. I could not believe that these were the words of a well respectable officer of the police force. In dismay, I left shocked looking at him, to which he then said “walk you (expletive) nuh”.
After this experience, I am convinced that the police force has within its ranks some brainless idiots!
Appalled
