Fire of unknown origin destroyed an Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara house belonging to Elaine Pollard, an 80-year-old pensioner who is presently in the United States of America.
Pollard left the house in the care of Safraz Baksh, 42-year-old vendor of lot 41 Main Street, Ann’s Grove ECD. Police issued a statement saying the two-storey wood and concrete house reportedly went up in flames around 05:00 hours yesterday.
Baksh said a resident called to inform him that Elaine’s house was on fire.
The estimated cost of damage is unknown at the moment and it is unclear if the house was insured.
