Dear Editor,
It really saddens me to write about the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company since I’ve always been a faithful supporter, however it is quite overbearing now. I reside in the Corriverton area and reported my telephone not working on the 19th of July. It is now September and the issue has not been resolved.
What bothers me the most is the back and forth that their so called “Customer Care” section puts me through. For instance, no longer can I be directly connected to the New Amsterdam Office; all calls are routed directly to the customer care call center. I have been calling since the date of my report the following numbers, 2251315, 339-2290, 333-2400 and the list goes on. I have spoken to the Customer Care Manager, the Faults Supervisor and a number of other staff members. No one to date can state what exactly the problem is or when it will be rectified, if at all. I am greatly inconvenienced mainly because of the fact that my internet is not working.
My question has been and still is, if they (GT&T employees) do not know, who should I ask? I don’t know if it’s a case where their customer base is now at a magnitude where they are unable to cater for our need or whether the technicians are not fully equipped for the challenges arising or if it’s a case where everyone do as they please, because something is seriously wrong here. I am hoping that this letter will attract the attention of someone at GTT who actually knows what’s going on and can possibly enlighten me since quite frankly, I am unaware as to what else I can possibly do.
